Long distance swimming is a lonely enterprise. A solitary swimmer out at sea, with nothing more than a bathing suit, goggles, and her deep thoughts. But to cross a legendary, highly challenging ocean such as the straits that lie between Cuba in Florida, a meditative open-water swim becomes a major expedition.

The sharks are large predators. The jellyfish carry the most lethal venom in all the ocean. The Gulf Stream is a powerful and ever-changing current, extremely tricky to navigate at swimmer's speed. The mental and physical issues that will confront a 62-year-old body are unkown. Nobody at any age has ever made this swimming journey unassisted by aid of a shark cage.

Help me show the world that it's never too late to chase your dream. Join the team!

Because this is my last try, dating way back to 1978, I have decided to bring all the expertise and brainpower possible to the mission.

Not one person is making a salary, nor any kind of stipend. All the funds raised go toward gear and charters and fuel and the myriad of materials we have deemed intelligent to organize in order to be successful.

We are aiming to make history. Will you join our Xtreme Dream Team? Any donation, no matter how small, makes you part of our Team. And we shall ALL celebrate when I hit that Florida shore, at long last.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
